THE APRICOT TREE
Change is the most thrived for lure of the self-development industry, everybody wants to change.
Imagine an apricot tree entering a library and reading all the self-development books ever written. Will it transform itself into a pear tree?
Imagine it enrolling in workshops and seminars for seven years in a row. Will it yield bananas?
An apricot tree is an apricot tree, and it will always be an apricot tree. An apricot tree cannot change its nature, but it can become the very best or very worst apricot tree.
If tended to properly with wisdom and care, it will exploit its potential of yielding the sweetest apricots anyone has ever tasted. But if it is neglected and mistreated, it will yield unpalatable fruit. Both extremes are within its potentiality – being a banana tree is not.
Why would you thrive to become a coconut tree? In this lifetime you were born an apricot, so stop all your efforts to become what you are not. Instead, tend to your faculties to become the best that you can be.
You cannot change, but you can definitely evolve.
Be you.
In this modern age evolution has become our duty. We can no longer leave evolution to natural processes, as we have driven ourselves far apart from it through massive technological development.
We are living in a man-made world.
It is our responsibility to close the evolutionary gap, firstly by realizing that we have to be proactive about it if we want to survive.
The human mind has tremendous scope and capacities – yet we neglect it because we just can’t be bothered. We are conditioned to be lazy and we choose comfort over challenge.
The mind would rather be ‘comfortably numb’ than dare to explore its boundaries.
Life is not a dress rehearsal. It is show time NOW!
Something within you has to wake up to the call.
Harness the mind and hold the reins.
Smoking cessation is merely an exercise to show yourself that you can.
Start with this and you will achieve much more.
You have to start sometime, somewhere.
And the time is always NOW.
Habits have taken over our lives. We would rather follow the familiar pattern, even if it bores us to death, just because we’ve established a pattern and we are trained to repeat it no matter what.
Break some patterns to show the mind that you are its boss.
Focus on this challenge with excitement and curiosity instead of focusing on your fears, doubts and hesitations.
If you look at this practice as a challenge and become excited about it, you will enjoy the process and be successful.
But if you fear failure and doubt the merits … this will be the experience that you harvest.
It is up to you.
