Smoking and Addiction Facts - Page 6
Stop Smoking

An attempt to quit smoking deprives us of pleasure and gives us pain instead.

It is absolutely outrageous and unnatural to quit smoking!

The most reasonable and natural action is to keep on smoking.

You may now realize just how much character you need for the fight. You now have to call on your inner strength as an ally, and you'll need us as your auxiliaries. You will have to be brave, daring and enduring in this fight for your life. And remember that the actions you have embarked on will initially deprive you of pleasure and inflict pain.

But the choice is yours, and it will make a huge difference to your life.

You can do it, for sure!

Also consider that you can do much more than just quitting smoking. If you can overthrow your addiction to nicotine, you will be able to apply a similar attitude to different areas of your life by relying on your intelligence and inner strength.

Quitting your smoking habit is good practice for employing intelligence and using inner strength. This process shouldn't be harrowing - it can, in fact, be empowering and fun. Tackle your smoking, then go on to the next mission.

Please understand how smoking creates addiction:

1. On a motivational and behavioral level you are a smoker because your addiction is maintained. This is done by seeking the pleasures and rewards of smoking while avoiding the pains of abstinence as manifested by withdrawal symptoms.

2. On a habitual level you are addicted simply because you have created a pattern of smoking. Any action that is repeated again and again becomes a pattern. Can you count how many cigarettes you have smoked in your life? Most probably you cannot.

Imagine that each cigarette reinforces the pattern. If each cigarette is like a tiny thread, your pattern by now is probably the size of a rope that could anchor a big oil tanker.

Imagine how difficult it is to break this rope. Keep on smoking and you'll make the rope thicker and stronger.

3. But you are also addicted on a physiological level. You have created a neuro-biochemical dependency on nicotine. Let's concentrate on this aspect now.
